WellFairSystem has been following the Welfare Reform bill very closely over the past few months, paying close attention to those who will loose out as a result. The Government are now asking for disabled people to have their say on the bill, this is what they said,

"We view the development of the criteria as an iterative process. We recognise that this second draft may require some further refinement and also that there is likely to be strong interest in the proposed descriptor weightings.

We therefore intend to discuss this draft with disabled people and their organisations and to consult formally on the proposals once we have firmer views on the proposed weightings and likely entitlement thresholds for the rates and components of the benefit. In the meantime, we would welcome any comments people have on the changes we have made. Please send comments to either of the following addresses:

The final draft assessment regulations will not be laid until 2012, subject to Royal Assent of the Bill, and will be subject to Parliamentary scrutiny through the “affirmative procedure”, which means they must be approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords to become law."

We are always hoping our voices will be not just heard, but listened to. This is our chance, so I urge you to contact them with your worries. If you do not feel confident enough to do this your self, we will be collecting peoples stories to send on your behalf.
